Community Comes Together for Mental Health Awareness Event

Share

On Sunday, 3 November, RKA Industrial Solutions, the Riverstone Historical Society & Museum, and North West Community Services joined forces for a special community event to raise mental health awareness as part of Mental Health Month. Held at the Riverstone Museum, the gathering offered locals a unique chance to explore the area’s rich history while supporting a critical cause.

Bringing the Community Together

The museum, which opens its doors to the public on the first Sunday of each month, welcomed visitors with a gold coin donation for entry. RKA Industrial Solutions organised the event and ran a BBQ, offering sausage and hashbrown sandwiches in exchange for small donations.

Thanks to the generosity of attendees, the event raised a total of $804.74, with all proceeds going directly to North West Community Services mental health initiatives. Additionally, the Riverstone Memorial Club contributed $300 towards the BBQ costs, further supporting the day’s efforts.

“This event was all about bringing the community together and supporting mental health,” said Kelly Adams, General Manager of RKA Industrial Solutions. “It gave families a chance to learn about Riverstone’s heritage while coming together to support a cause that affects us all.”

Making a Difference

The event held a special meaning for Managing Director Ryan Adams and General Manager Kelly Adams, who have both been affected by suicide within their personal circles in recent months. Their experiences inspired them to give back to the community and work towards preventing similar tragedies in the future.

“We know firsthand the pain that comes with loss, and we hope our efforts can help make a difference for others by supporting mental health resources locally,” Kelly Adams added.

Raising Awareness

The day’s activities included museum tours and a selection of classic BBQ treats, all enjoyed in the spirit of raising awareness and fostering community bonds. Families and community members turned out in strong numbers, generously donating to support North West Community Services and its essential work in mental health.

The event at 81 Garfield Rd East was a resounding success, with residents of all ages showing up to support their neighbours. The collaborative effort by RKA Industrial Solutions, the Riverstone Historical Society & Museum, North West Community Services, and the Riverstone Memorial Club showcased the strength of community action in creating a healthier, more connected Riverstone.
