Greens General Foods, a high-end food producer, encountered recurring failures with its hoists, which consistently ceased functioning within a mere 7 years of installation. This issue was not only a source of frustration due to the resultant production losses but also because it signalled the premature end of the equipment’s expected lifespan. The challenge for RKA Industries was to diagnose the underlying cause of these failures and to devise a solution that would prevent future occurrences.

Our team conducted a thorough investigation into the hoist failures. We discovered that the root cause was the use of hoists with an incorrect class rating, which led to their premature wear and tear due to overuse. In response, our team sourced new hoists that were not only more appropriate for Greens Foods’ production needs due to their higher class rating but also offered a simple, cost-effective and maintenance-friendly solution. Remarkably, these new hoists came at half the cost of the originals.

The resolution brought by RKA Industrial Solutions has afforded Greens Foods peace of mind, knowing their operations are supported by correctly specified equipment. This strategic intervention has significantly reduced the frequency of breakdowns and, consequently, minimised production losses. Given Greens Foods’ annual production value of $84.4 million, ensuring equipment reliability is not just a matter of operational efficiency but also of critical financial importance. RKA Industries’ adept handling of the situation exemplifies their commitment to enhancing client operations through targeted, effective solutions.
